Cookies

A small batch cut-out cookie for your Christmas cookie exchange! Decorated into Christmas lights with royal icing and mini M&Ms, these holiday cookies are fun and festive. The perfect Christmas treat!

Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Then, beat the butter and sugar. Add the egg yolk, vanilla, and almond extracts.

Dump the dough into the counter top with flour. Gather it into a ball and press it into a 1/2" thick round disk. Then, roll out the dough.

Place the shapes on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat. And place the cookie sheet in the freezer while preheating the oven. Bake.

To make the royal icing. Combine the powdered sugar and lemon juice. Beat the egg white and add them to the bowl with the sugar. Whisk.

When the icing comes together, spoon a small amount onto each cookie. And let the royal icing hardens completely.

Pipe two thin black lines into each cookie and press mini M&Ms sideways.
