Crumb Donuts

Such a beautiful, delicious donut, in just 30 minutes!

INGREDIENTS 4 T cold butter 1/4 c flour 1/4 c brown sugar 1/2 t cinnamon 1/2 c flour 1/4 c sugar 3/4 t baking powder 1/8 t salt 1/2 t nutmeg 1/4 c milk 1 egg white 3 T butter 1/2 t vanilla

Combine butter, flour, brown sugar and cinnamon. Mash butter into dry ingredients with a fork. Make sure there are no patches of flour. Pour mixture onto a baking sheet lined with foil. Set aside.

Next, make the donuts: Preheat oven to 350F and grease a 6-donut pan very well with cooking spray. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Set aside.

Stir together the milk, egg white, butter and vanilla. Stir the mixture continuously over medium-low heat until the butter dissolves completely.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry (Don't over-mix).

Divide the batter between the spaces in the pan and bake for 8 min at 350F. Add the pan of crumbs to oven at the same time. When done, the surface of the donuts will spring back when pressed.

Let the donuts cool in the pan 5 min before removing them. Meanwhile, scrape the crumb mixture with a fork to create crumbs. Pour the crumbs into a shallow bowl or plate.

GLAZE: Whisk together  1 cup powdered sugar 2-3 T milk or cream 1/4 t vanilla  in a shallow bowl. To serve the donuts, dip each top into the glaze, then the crumb mixture.
