Start by cooking the bacon. Remove it and leave the drippings behind. Cook the sausage, diced onion, and red pepper flakes next.
Add the chicken broth, salt, and potato slices, then simmer. Add the kale and cook.
Turn off the heat and stir in the heavy cream. Taste and adjust seasonings.
Ladle into bowls, top with the chopped bacon, and serve.
