There's a certain romance in sharing a dessert for two with your sweetie.
There's also a certain romance in saying 'No, I need my own dessert. Please and thank you.'
I'm so glad my husband and I are passed that awkward dating phase. That phase where you order one dessert to share on a date. ONE. Ugh. I'm so over that. Bring on the fat pants, and let's order two desserts and not share.
I'm trying to remember the exact details here, but for some reason, on our first date, it wasn't exactly meal time. I think it was mid-afternoon? He took me to the Sacramento capitol building. I'd lived near it for 6 years, but had never taken a tour and always wanted to see it. Afterwards, we walked to a restaurant for lack of better things to do. I was so very hungry; I wanted to order dinner, but I didn't. Instead, I guzzled a frozen margarita and subsisted on chips and salsa. Perhaps it was all part of his plan to see me after a huge drink and a few crumbs to eat? Not exactly sure.
But now, oh, how times have changed. When we order at restaurants these days, it's a carefully calculated game plan. It's a meeting of the minds. We discuss the best players on the menu, rank them, and then we order the top two and trade one bite each. This also applies to the dessert menu.
He also knows now that I can pretty much eat a full meal at any hour of the day. Especially Chipotle. I could have just finished breakfast and be up for a burrito bowl. Just had a salad for lunch? That'll be a vegetarian burrito bowl, please. Extra guac, too.
Chocolate chip cookie sundaes:
I'm sitting here, with what I'm 99% sure is his baby in my belly (things with Jonathan Scott will never work out, will they?), and eating my own personal-sized dessert. He has his own, and I have his own. That's my kind of romance.
Don't touch my ice cream, and I won't touch yours. Extra whipped cream for him, and soft, melty ice cream for me. Now THAT'S how you do Valentine's Day.
Separate cookie sundaes make for a very happy marriage.
If you're lacking two mini 4" cast iron skillets (THESE are the exact ones I used), I've made this recipe as a chocolate chip cookie cake in a 6" pie plate. It's also my standard 1 dozen chocolate chip cookie recipe, too. Three ways to serve it, one way to eat it: alone!

One time my boyfriend and I were at dinner and we ordered the bananas foster. Lo and behold, two bananas fosters came out and not one. We thought the waitress had been nice and split our dessert in half, but no, she just ordered two for us. We were totally weirded out by the forwardness, but of course we ate them both entirely. Love is a beautiful thing :)

You make me laugh girl. So funny...my family (kids and husband) find me really annoying about the whole sharing stuff. I want to take bites of everything they are eating lol. I'm obsessed and indecisive apparently. These individual cookie sundaes look so darn good. I kinda want one for breakfast, would that be bad?
Katrina @ Warm Vanilla Sugar says
Absolutely. This is as romantic as it gets! And I would totally just eat it right from the pan :)

not having to share dessert is one of the best parts about being married :)

HAHA! Sharing...hmmm, if my husband and I order dessert we usually only order one. Then he proclaims it's too rich and I end up eating most of it (which of course I don't mind). And that is why we rarely order dessert!

Unfortunately, I think Mr. Scott is not in your future, I however, am single with a broken toilet, I really, really need Jonathan and my own dessert, of course.

you are hilarious . . and made me think of my first date with my husband, which was a marathon date. it was a safe lunch date that turned into dinner and a baseball game (tickets he already had but was only going to ask me if the day went ok. . haha!) anyway, yes Jonathan Scott is a hottie. And I now only know about him after you mentioning Property Brothers on another post. . now I watch it all the time. :P and I'm with you on dessert, esp when we're talking CCC sundaes. Get your own!

So.. I'm kinda like Joey from Friends when it comes to sharing dessert. "Krista DOES NOT SHARE DESSERT!" The chocolate is mine and thats that, I love you but no! And this cookie sundae would be all mine, loving this recipe from the dessert queen herself!
Angelyn @ Everyday Desserts says
I HATE having to share dessert!!! omg. I definitely would not share one of these sundaes!

There's no shame in not sharing. It tastes better that way. These look so scrumptious.
