I’m here to help you streamline your cocktail routine on Fridays. Your at-home mixology skills could use a shake-up.
It’s Friday and you need a drink after work. Stat. But, you’ve had such a crazy week that making a batch of simple syrup isn’t in the cards. I got ya covered. Grab a jar of jam instead!
Jams add sweetness and body to a cocktail. Once you try it, you’ll never go back to plain simple syrup. (Unless you’re hooked on my jalapeño simple syrup, that is).
I used my final jar of fig jam that I made last season. I went heavy on the cinnamon in this batch of jam, so the cocktail has lots of spice and warmth. If your fig preserves are plain, just add a pinch of cinnamon to your martini shaker.
I chose rye whiskey because I like its grassiness. Use whatever whiskey or bourbon you prefer. A sprig of lemon balm on top is your cue to drink up.
Here’s to faster cocktails—cheers!

Chutneys, jams, thick preserves - so good and they're my thing! And then with figs, oh so good. And then putting that INTO the drink - you're my new drinking buddy! Pinned!

Hmm... I never thought to add jam to a cocktail like this. But why the heck not?! I love that you used a heavy-cinnamon fig jam. I'm so into fall mode so getting that warmth and spiciness in the cocktail is my thang! :)

Hi, you are a genius. Also, want to come over and teach me to make fig jam? Please bring some that's already made too, so we can sip these while we work. (PS. What's your fave rye whiskey-looking to stock up for winter/fall/life)

This is genius! I have a batch of drunken fig jam in the fridge.. and an attempt-gone-awry at infusing a full bottle of Tito's with fig + thyme in the pantry (WAY too strong of a thyme flavor). This recipe is the perfect solution for satisfying that craving for fig cocktails.
